Cycling round without fools

We don't have crazy people, but we are crazy about bikes!

I am currently sitting in our bar thinking about how to write my first blog. I know exactly what I would like to write about, but I am a perfectionist, and I am afraid that there will be too many mistakes in it and that no one will want to read it. Well, nothing. I’ll make myself a coffee and then another and another if needed.

Just to keep the brain buzzing.

Like on a bike. Caffeine is my driver.

Both Mirsad and I, who is the boss of the bar (he is also my boss heheh), enjoy being among the people. And so it is on the bike. We love cycling with our fellow cyclists and so we decided to create a Velo round. More and more cyclists were interested in doing something like this with us. Since we didn’t want to create another racing round, we decided to make this one for anyone with a road bike.

Cyclists group ride, which is repeated regularly every week, is called a round. I really like that term, even though our non-cyclist customers always ask what we drink at these rounds. They hear that word as a round of drinks that someone orders for the whole society (“Lol”). We ride in a tight group. Sometimes it’s a row one after the other, other times a group of two after two. Depending on the road. We drive according to road traffic regulations and try to avoid more busy roads. Safety comes first! The first cyclist in the row always shows with warning signs what is happening on the road in front of us. Because we all try to be as tuck from the wind as possible, we don’t see the danger in front of us.

We only stare at the wheel in front of us. If he has a good butt, then we look at their butts (“hehe").

With warning signs, the first in the column warns of potholes, lying policemen, pedestrians, sand on the road,… With his left or right hand he indicates the direction so that the rest of us know where we are turning. Describing these warnings is pointless and I don’t know if I could describe it understandingly enough. The best thing is that you come to our round. We are very tolerant and understanding towards new cyclists. What’s more, both the boss and I are happy to chat with the new cyclists about all the pitfalls of road cyclists. You can ask me whatever you want, because I am also curious and I always want to know how and especially why something is done. My boss says I always have 100 sub-questions and he rolls his eyes next to me (guys).

We both started using bike lights for safety. We saw this for the first time years ago in Italy and at first we found it strange that they drive with lights during the day. We soon found out it wasn’t stupid. More and more riders have them in our rounds as well, so we are very well visible. We notice that most of the cars behind us drive completely different. They reach us more slowly and bypass us at a greater distance. I notice the same thing when I'm on the bike alone and I don’t go on a road bike without bike lights. It is true, however, that some have rear lights that you only notice when you are right behind them. It is important that the lights are of good quality, the last at least 30 lumens, which means that they will be detected from a distance of about 900 meters.

The bike round is suitable for all road bike riders. I used to be in the rounds all the time on the elastic and I don’t want that for our participants. Let's ride according to the capabilities of the slowest! Usually, the one who says it doesn’t have energy rides the fastest when he is at the front. But then the rest of us slow it down a bit.

We wait for each other at the top of the climb. We are paying attention to new participants.

If you don't know how to ride in a group yet, we'll teach you. One hundred percent of the Velo rounds are not racing, not competing, but progress is being made. However, no one is forbidden that if he has a good day or would like to pour out excess energy, racing on Pance, which is a pleasant slope to raise the heart rate. I, too, sometimes run up this hill. At the top there is a really nice view towards Ljubljana and when we all gather, we descend towards Grosuplje and continue in a group.

We arrive in front of Velo bar and we are all satisfied! I'm watching us. A company of like-minded people, in the fresh air, pleasantly tired and happy because we made our body happy.

The cutest thing is when on warm days, which turn into an evening, we drink a few more drinks and tell fun stories, and for those non cyclists around us think we are ful of crap (“ahaha”).

The "after bike party"

If you are looking for a cycling company that loves a bike, is a little crazy, enjoys nature and is ready to listen to you, come to Velo bar. Every Wednesday at 5 pm, after the spring shift, we start in front of the bar and take a round in a duck column. The only condition is that you have a road bike and the will. The round lasts less than 2 hours and takes place along an approximately 50 km long route, basically the same: Velo bar - Špica - Hradeckega cesta - Hrušica - Sostro - Pance - Grosuplje - Škofljica - Ig - Matena - Velo bar.

In the first round, but only in the first, we will give each participant two water bottles. Damn it pays off! Throughout the season, we have prepared even more surprises.

Follow us and I promise to do my best to make the blogs interesting and at least half as crazy as me. I’m looking forward to this season and every new rider on our round because it’s really a real orgasm to be able to prove to someone that there’s also a crazy bike round, without fools!

Pri nas norcev ni, smo pa nori na kolo!

Trenutno sedim v najinem lokalu in razmišljam, kako naj napišem svoj prvi blog. Točno vem o čem bi rada pisala, sem pa perfekcionist, pravi picajzel in se bojim, da bo v njem preveč napak in da ga nihče ne bo želel brati. Pa nič zato. Naredila si bom kavico in nato še eno in še eno, če bo potrebno. Samo, da možgančki zalaufajo. Kot na kolesu. Kofein je moj gonilnik.

Oba z Mirsadom, ki je šef lokala (je tudi moj šef), uživava, da sva med ljudmi. In tako je tudi na kolesu. Rada kolesariva v družbi in tako sva se odločila, da ustvariva Velo rundo. Vedno več kolesarjev se je zanimalo, da bi pri nas naredili nekaj takšnega. Ker nisva želela ustvariti še ene dirkalne runde, sva se odločila, da bo ta za vse, ki imajo cestna kolesa.

Kolesarji skupinski vožnji, ki se redno ponavlja vsak teden, rečemo runda. Meni je ta izraz zelo všeč, čeprav naše stranke, ki niso kolesarji, vedno sprašujejo kaj pijemo na teh rundah. To besedo slišijo kot runda pijače, ki jo nekdo naroči za celotno družbo. (»lol«) Vozimo se v strnjeni skupini. Včasih je to vrsta eden za drugim, drugič skupina dva za dvema. Odvisno od ceste. Vozimo se po cestno prometnih predpisih in se trudimo izogibati bolj prometnim cestam. Na prvem mestu je varnost! Prvi v koloni vedno z opozorilnimi znaki kaže kaj se dogaja na cesti pred nami. Ker se vsi trudimo, da smo čim bolj v zavetrju, ne vidimo nevarnosti pred nami. Bulimo samo v feltno tistega pred nami. Če ima dobro zadnjico, pa v njo (»hehe«). Z opozorilnimi znaki prvi v koloni opozarja na luknje na cesti, ležeče policaje, pešce, pesek na cesti,… Z levo ali desno roko nakazuje smer, da ostali vemo kam zavijamo. Opisovanje teh opozoril je brezvezno in ne vem, če bi znala to opisati dovolj razumevajoče. Lažje je s slikami ali posnetki. Najbolje pa je, da prideš na našo rundo. Smo zelo strpni in razumevajoči do novih kolesarjev. Še več, oba s šefom z veseljem z novimi kolesarji poklepetava o vseh pasteh cestnih kolesarjev. Vprašaš me lahko kar hočeš, ker sem tudi sama radovedna in vedno želim vedeti kako in predvsem zakaj se nekaj počne. Moj šef pravi, da imam vedno 100 podvprašanj in zraven zavija z očmi (moški pač).

Midva sva zaradi varnosti pričela uporabljati kolesarske lučke. To sva prvič že pred leti videla v Italiji in se nama je sprva zdelo čudno, da se podnevi vozijo z lučkami. Kmalu sva ugotovila, da ni neumno. Vedno več kolesarjev jih ima tudi na naših rundah, tako da smo zelo dobro vidni. Opažamo, da se večinoma avtomobili za nami vozijo popolnoma drugače. Do nas pripeljejo počasneje in nas obvozijo na večji razdalji. Enako opažam tudi ko sem na kolesu sama in brez lučk ne grem več na specialko. Je pa res, da imajo nekateri zadnje lučke, ki jih opaziš šele ko si tik za njimi. Pomembno je, da so lučke kvalitetne, zadnja vsaj 30 lumenska, kar pomeni da te bodo zaznali iz razdalje približno 900 metrov.

Velo runda je primerna za vse kolesarje s cestnimi kolesi. Jaz sem bila včasih na rundah ves čas na elastiki in to si ne želim za naše udeležence. Vozimo se po zmožnostih najpočasnejšega! Po navadi tisti, ki najbolj jamra, da je počasen in da nič ne more, na firungi vozi najhitreje. Ampak ga potem ostali hitro malo upočasnimo. (»grrrrr«) Na vrhu vzpona se počakamo. Pozorni smo na nove udeležence. Če se še ne znaš voziti v skupini, te naučimo. Stoprocentno se na Velo rundi ne dirka, ne tekmuje, se pa napreduje. Nikomur pa ni prepovedano, da če ima dober dan ali pa bi rad izlil odvečno energijo, dirkanje na Pance, ki so prijeten klanček za dvig srčnega utripa. Tudi jaz se včasih zaženem v ta klanček. Na vrhu je res lep razgled proti Ljubljani in ko se vsi zberemo, se spustimo proti Grosupljem in nadaljujemo v skupini.

Pripeljemo se pred Velo bar in vsi smo zadovoljni! Opazujem nas. Družba podobno mislečih, na svežem zraku, prijetno utrujeni in veseli, ker smo razveselili svoje telo. Najbolj luštno pa je, ko v toplih dneh, ki se prevesijo v večer spijemo kakšno pijačko več in si pripovedujemo zabavne zgodbe, za tiste, ki niso kolesarji pa nakladamo (haha).

Če iščeš kolesarsko družbo, ki ima rada kolo, je malo zmešana, uživa v naravi in ti je pripravljena prisluhniti, pridi v Velo bar. Vsako sredo ob 17h, po spomladanskem premiku ure štartamo pred lokalom in v račji koloni odpeljemo rundo. Edini pogoj je, da imaš cestno kolo in voljo. Runda traja slabi 2 uri in poteka po približno 50 km dolgi trasi, načeloma po isti: Velo bar – Špica – Hradeckega cesta – Hrušica – Sostro – Pance – Grosuplje – Škofljica – Ig – Matena – Velo bar.

Na prvi rundi, ampak samo na prvi, bomo podarili vsakemu udeležencu dva bidona. Hudiča, da se splača! Skozi celo sezono pa pripravimo še več presenečenj.

Spremljaj nas in obljubim, da se bom potrudila, da bodo blogi zanimivi in vsaj pol toliko nori kot jaz. Veselim se letošnje sezone in vsakega novega kolesarja na naši rundi, ker je res pravi orgazem, da lahko nekomu dokažeš, da obstaja tudi nora kolesarska runda brez norcev!
